We are a thriving group of about thirty members who meet once a month, on different days and dates to suit the venue and that month’s organiser/host. Broadly speaking, we focus on London architecture for winter visits and venture into the countryside in the summer.
U3A members are busy people though, (and plan lots of holidays!), - so we aim for a group size that means about 12-14 people take part in each month’s visit. We would love you to join us – but we are achieving that at the moment – so we don’t currently have any vacancies. However we will run a waitng list if you are interested in being part of the group.
Normally, we plan our programme in September and March at a planning meeting to which everyone in the Group is invited. We don’t restrict ourselves to any specific architect or period, but our visits focus on places of primarily architectural interest – and if they also have history, or current exhibitions, so much the better. We also avoid too many churches! Over the lockdown we kept in touch with a number of Zoom workshops, organised and led by ourselves. We are now testing the water with visits again.
We all take it in turns to research and organise visits - you don’t need any architectural expertise though because we often go to places which have their own expert guides.
