Walking Football at Harvesters FC
Walking football has nothing to do with walking! It's essentially 5 a side football played at a walking pace - running is penalised. It was invented in 2012 by Bury FC as a fun way to get older people back into football and, more importantly, taking exercise. It is growing in popularity throughout the country: even Barclays Bank has featured it in a TV ad campaign!
Sessions start with some gentle stretching and practice before playing for as long as stamina allows. The game is played on a hard surface so the recommended kit is tracksuit bottoms and trainers. It would also be useful if you could acquire or borrow a football (condition unimportant - second hand / used) for practice. For more information visit Harvesters Walking Football
