Lit Larks was started as a U3A book group in 2014 since which time a
variety of books have been read and discussed. We meet in members
houses to discuss our latest book and have a capacity for eight members.
We have a variety of books which are chosen in turn by the members and
include fiction, non fiction as well as classical novels.
Some of the books we have enjoyed reading over recent months have been Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes. Our classic choices have been Man of Property Forsyth Saga book 1 by John Galsworthy and The Spire by William Golding.
Reading has been shown to improve cognitive brain health as well as being a form of relaxation which promotes emotional wellbeing. and increases social awareness. Members of the group have had many discussions about topical matters.
Members can use
the Library in St Albans who charge a nominal annual fee for the service
to Book Groups. Books are picked up from the Information desk and
have a 6 week loan.
We are a lively reading group and we have a
vacancy in the group for a like minded person. Please contact the organiser Christine Dewhurst 01727 764767 if you would be interested in joining us.
