We meet on the third Monday of each month in members’ homes.
We sometimes have several subjects to choose from to write about at home, sometimes just one. We then read these out in turn and discuss them. Towards the end of our meeting we often do 'spontaneous' writing which means writing for 10-15 minutes on a given subject - it is amazing where putting pen to paper will take you..
We try to develop different modes/techniques of writing, e.g. developing a character, creating a story round that character. Sometimes one of the members writes chapter 1 of a story and the others then either complete the story (thereby having a variety of endings) or each member in turn will write chapter 2, 3, etc. The main purpose is to discover our creativity and have fun in doing so. Our writing may be autobiographical, fiction, documentary - always imaginative.
Some of our work has been published in the u3a Life magazine..
