Our group was formed in 2018 and will suit new players who can play the major chords or rusty players. We are not able to provide basic teaching but more improvement by playing with others. We meet weekly except when there is a Wednesday meeting at Marlborough Road. We have ten guitarists.
We are keen to add some percussion and wonder if anyone can play the cajon and would like to join us. We have a cajon available. We meet at City Church, Lyon Way AL4 0LB (turn off beside Brayley Honda) and go to the end of the road. For satnav AL4 0LB. City Church Map.
We pay £3 per session as a donation for the use of the church hall and coffee, tea and biscuits.
We mainly play music mainly from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s as this is the era most of us remember as the heyday of the guitarist. So Bob Dylan, the Eagles, the Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell will be on the agenda. Our repertoire currently comprises 200 songs. Occasionally we will have someone more proficient to give us a master class to spur us on.
