The Group meets monthly on the second Friday in the month.  We visit nature reserves in the St Albans area and sometimes further afield, often with an expert guide.  We have started going away for a 3-night break to have more time to appreciate areas further away such as the Norfolk coast, Minsmere in Suffolk and this year Dorset.

We keep the programme varied to cover a wide variety of natural history interests eg: mammals, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, trees, fungi, etc.

There is usually a certain amount of walking involved on uneven and sometimes muddy ground (but always at a slow pace).

It is recommended to bring binoculars and field guides if you have them.  We end the morning visiting a local café or hostelry for lunch.

Plans this year include:
-Rainham Marshes

-Tring Reservoirs

- Butterflies at Dunstable Downs

- A walk to identify trees in St Albans
