GROUPS NEWS

If you have interests that are currently not represented among our many groups or perhaps the groups that do interest you have no vacancies, don't hesitate to contact the Groups Coordinator. Setting up a new group is simple enough once we know what you want to do and have enough members interested.  

  Groups with Vacancies

To Contact any of the Group Organisers you must be logged in to the website. Once you have done this, go to the Group page by selecting “Group List” in the menu under Groups tab above and then click on the Group you wish to contact. Then click on the 'Email Group Organisers'  icon  at the top of the Group page. When you've finished composing your email, don't forget to press the    button at the bottom of the page before you leave!

We are in the process of starting a number of new groups –  Chamber Music (Playing), and Recorder. Interest has been expressed in starting a Bridge for Beginners group. Please contact the Groups Coordinator if you are interested in joining any of these groups.A small number of members have expressed an interest in starting a Classical Greek group. If anyone is, or knows of, a teacher willing to tutor such a group, please contact the Groups Coordinator.

Additionally, the following groups are "actively recruiting"

Badminton 3  Wednesdays 10.00 to 12.00 at Herts Sports Village, University of Hertfordshire de Havilland Campus Cost - £2.50 - £3 for a 2 hour session depending on numbers. New members of all abilities very welcome. Organiser Mary Pilbery 

Creative Writing 2 would welcome some new members.  We meet on the last Wednesday of the month in the morning.  Contact Jacqueline Jones for more information. 

Debating - would welcome some new members for lively discussion on the historic times in which we live.  Check our web page for our programme for the next few months. Organiser John Milbourn

Embroidery Plus would love some new members to join the group. View the lovely photos on their group page and contact Noreen Bracken if you are feeling creative

Exploring London 4 would welcome some new members to join them on their monthly trips, and to help plan and lead new trips with them. Contact Derryn Borley

French Advanced Conversation is actively recruiting a few new members who are seeking to improve their conversational skills. Please contact Norman Hart

German 5 (Advanced) - would love to recruit a few fluent German speakers to keep this group viable. Contact Ann Watts

Jazz in the Third Age is searching for a new drummer! Please contact Ray Wilson for more details.

Knitting Circle - we would like to recruit a few new members to this group.  Organiser Coral Burrows

Mobility  for those possibly older members with serious mobility issues which could be relieved, say, with sitting exercises. Dietary tips also given by fully qualified personal trainer. Wednesday, 1.30pm -2.15pm in Garden Room 1 at St Paul’s Church, Blandford Road, AL1 4JP.  More details on the Members’ News page. £5 per session. Organiser Joyce Stubbs

Poetry Writing  meets on 1st Tuesday at 2 pm. Contact John Steele for more information.

Reading 3 has 1 vacancy. The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 2.30pm. Contact Chris Gowens or Penny Thei.

Table Tennis 5 - come and join us at Greenwood Park on Fridays at 3.30pm.  Room for several more players. Organiser Prem Saminaden

Walks 2 (4.5-6.5 miles)– join us on the third Thursday of the month. We walk from a local pub normally no more than 30 minutes’ drive away with lunch at the end of the walk. Contact Organiser Roger Miller
