WHAT WE DO

St Albans U3A is a self-help organisation run entirely by its members who organise a very wide range of activities. There are more than 140 Groups covering arts and crafts, history, languages, sports and much more. Members also organise social events, outings, theatre trips and holidays:

We normally hold meetings and talks twice a month, on Wednesdays at Marlborough Road Methodist Church and on Tuesdays at Highfield Sports Centre. These meetings are an opportunity to meet fellow members, catch up on the latest news. browse the Groups, Trips and Book and Jigsaw swap stalls.

We have a varied programme of talks given by invited speakers - see the Meetings and Talks page for more details. Talks are organised by the Speaker Secretary who would welcome suggestions for future speakers - including U3A members who would be interested in giving a talk on their 'specialist subject'. Please give feedback after each talk by placing a token in one of the 'ballot' boxes and writing your thoughts in the comments book provided at each meeting - this is important for compiling a list of recommended speakers for the Herts Network of U3As.

Three times a year we publish our U3Alife newsletter. You can submit contributions - articles on group activities, creative writing, poetry, musings on life in general - to the editor, Vivien Bailey: the deadline is usually a month before publication. You can also submit items, to the Webmaster for publication on the Members News page of this website: they will also be considered for  inclusion in U3Alife.
